What to check when a capture, audio track or export does not work as expected.

Capture will not start

Check that your Mac is compatible, that the selected target is available and that the app has screen-recording permission. Review System Settings → Privacy & Security and return to preparation. If macOS requests a restart, finish any task before quitting.

Voice or an application is inaudible

Check the microphone device, its permission and the input meter. For applications, review audio selection and play a test sound. On macOS 14.0/14.1, scope depends on the capture filter; independent selection requires 14.2 or later.

If a camera or microphone disconnected, select it again. Screengaze does not silently switch to a different device.

Playback is not smooth

Try Performance mode and a lower preview resolution. Pause to inspect a detailed frame. Save the project before closing other tasks; preview resolution does not change originals or export output.

Output is limited or unexpected

Check format, aspect ratio, resolution and account mode. Free exports are limited to 180 seconds and 720p with a watermark. GIF always has technical limits and no audio. For MP4, check codec and destination and keep the complete message if the encoder reports an error.

A language cannot be transcribed

Apple Speech needs on-device support for the selected language. For Spanish, review local multilingual Whisper and check that the selected model is downloaded or imported. The app does not automatically switch to a remote service if local recognition is unavailable.

Control names in quotation marks match the current Spanish app interface; English explanations describe the same controls.
